At the weekly sale of livestock there were forward
55 Cattle, comprising 31 Clean, 6 - 30/72Mths & 18 Culls
928 Sheep, comprising 522 New Season Lambs, 103 Hoggetts, 30 Shearlings & 273
Ewes & Rams.
A tidy show of stock for June in all sections. Lambs
down on the week but still better than the national average with our average
being 225.70. Interestingly in the corresponding sale last year, New
Season Lambs averaged 197.90p/kg. Hogg numbers up on the week, any decent
hoggs still a good trade but plenty of oddment hoggs pulling the average down to
179.51p/kg (2012 av 138.77) A good show of ewes forward with plenty of
interest from buyers raising the average by £9.35 per head on last week.
In the cattle ring, culls good to sell, but please get Farm Assured if not
already as the price difference is becoming larger. A better show of clean
cattle and a new buyer present - which lifted the trade by nearly 10p per kg on
last week. Please give us a go as we have a large buyer base wanting all
grades of stock.
